Growing Independence Since 2014.
Our Mother of Perpetual Help is on a mission to grow children and young adults with Down Syndrome, Autism and similar disabilities into independent adults to ensure their complete inclusion in society.
Helping children and young adults with Down syndrome and similar disabilities live independently to ensure their complete inclusion in society.
Our educational program offers traditional and functional academics, as well as vocational training, to children and young adults with Down Syndrome, autism and similar intellectual and developmental differences. Each student's success is the result of a collaboration between teachers, parents, therapists and administrators.
Our low student-to-teacher ratio and individually tailored curriculum set us apart from other schools.
How We Got Started
In 2014, Pam McGehee and her husband Dr. Frank McGehee M.D. founded Our Mother of Perpetual Help Educational Program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their daughter Brigid, with Down Syndrome, and her homeschool teacher (Natalie Mambretti Lewis, M.Ed. TCU ) were the inspiration to create this unique and successful educational program that has gone on to help so many special students.
Mrs. Lewis began working with Brigid in 2011, and after just a few short months with her, Brigid was excelling in reading, speech, mathematics and social skills – areas that had been neglected at her previous school. The McGehees quickly concluded that Mrs. Lewis’ unique and extremely successful teaching methods should be shared with other students, and that other teachers could learn from Mrs. Lewis. This was the impetus for founding of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Educational Program.
Our low student-to-teacher ratio and individually tailored curriculum sets us apart from other schools.
Experienced and nurturing educators tailor curriculum to meet the individual needs of each student. This unique approach, combined with a very low teacher-to-student ratio, sets Our Mother of Perpetual Help apart from other schools and programs that serve similar populations.
We are singular in our EXTREMELY LOW teacher-to-student ratio. Our ultimate goal for each learner is to help them live independently, fulfill their chosen vocation and contribute to the community in which they live with a goal of complete inclusion and participation. We also emphasize appropriate and fulfilling social interaction with others. We recognize that our students cannot achieve success in the community without this vitally important skill.
We welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds to our community.
